FAQs

1. Do I need to change any setting on my softphone or VOIP hardware for DID numbers?

No changes are required. We setup your new phone number, and at that time will set up your account to make and receive calls through the phone numbers attached to your extention number. You will receive an email from us confirming the numbers set up and you can use these phone numbers to receive phone calls from PSTN immediately. Our system forwards PSTN calls to your BBPGlobal extension directly.

2. If I purchase a phone number, can I still receive calls from my BBPGlobal extension and/or BBPGlobal's access numbers?

Your BBPGlobal extension continues to work normally.

3. Can I purchase more than 1 phone number on a single BBPGlobal account?

Yes, you can purchase one or several phone number on a single BBPGlobal account.

4. What information should I supply if I want a phone number for my non-BBPGlobal account?

You will have to provide us your account name and sip server information. For example : user129820@sip.providerxxx.net:5060. We will map it so the phone number we provide is attached to your service

5. My company has an IP-PBX and can we get real phone numbers from BBPGlobal?

Yes. We will map phone numbers to your company's sip accounts as per 4 above. For example : theboss@sip.bigcorp.com.au:5060

6. Can I direct my DID number to my landline / mobile? How much do you charge?

Yes, you can. However any diverted calls will be at the normal rate for the destination as per your rate plan. For example, if your rate plan is "OzUntimed", fowarding to a Sydney landline will cost 10c per call. If your rate plan is "Standard", forwarding to a UK mobile will cost you 39 cents per minute. You may check the rate here

7. Where can I forward my DID number to?

You can forward your DID number to any BBPGlobal accounts, other VoIP accounts, PSTN landline numbers or mobile numbers.

8. Can BBPGlobal guarantee forwarding my DID number to other VoIP providers' accounts will definitely work?

No. We simply cannot guarantee the diverted call will be successful. Many VoIP providers block voice traffic originated from other VoIP networks. You should check with your own VoIP provider first before purchasing a DID from us or transfer your service to BBPGlobal.

9. How do I direct my DID number to other phones?

Call diversion is achieved on the web based management system.Log into your account with your extension number and password. Click on the "Phone Numbers" button and input the destination phone number.

10. Can I get one Sydney number, one Melbourne number, and one Brisbane number, and forward all these numbers to my mobile phone?

Yes: you can order these on line here .

11. What if I only want to use BBPGlobal DID numbers to receive calls but do not want to use BBPGlobal service to make calls to PSTN?

Yes you can. But you still need to register with us and get a free BBPGlobal account before you can purchase a DID online.

12. If I travel overseas, can I redirect my DID to my overseas phone number?

Yes, you can. Simply change the destination number online when you arrive overseas. Remember to check the call rates as per 6 above.

13. What happen if I run out of credit in my BBPGlobal account?

You cannot forward calls to a PSTN / normal phone, if you have no credit in your account. However they can be forwarded to your bbpglobal account or any other other VoIP provider's account.

14. If I direct my DID to another phone number online, how long will it take effect?

It will take effect immediately after you click the "Submit" button.

15. Can I take simultaneous calls on the same phone number, e.g. for my call center?

Yes, you can purchase additional channels for the same DID number.

16. What does "additional channels" mean?  How does it work?

You can get as many channels as you like on 1 particular DID number.  If you have more than one channel, then more than one person can call you on the same number at the same time.  Eg. If your office has 4 phones, using the same DID number, you can purchase 3 additional channels so that 4 people can call your office simultaneously. A typical example would be a customer support center advertising one phone number but have several operators answering support calls.

17. What is a geographic number?

In Australia, geographic numbers are 10 digit numbers starting with 02, 03, 07 or 08 commonly referred to as landline or fixed line numbers. For the purpose of geographic numbering, Australia is divided into 2054 geographic areas called standard zone units (SZUs). If the geographic number is used outside the SZU for the number, this is referred to as being 'out of area'.

18. Can I use a geographic numbers out of area?

Yes. BBPGlobal's DIDs are geographic numbers forwarded to any landline, mobile, or VoIP account specified by the customers. However, a customer must be aware that:
- calls to the number may be charged as if the customer is located in the SZU for the number; and
- the customer may not be able to port the number to another service provider.
